The Beacon

Play Hard. Do Good.

In just over three weeks, 20,000 technology hungry people will descend upon Austin for their yearly pilgrimage to the ultimate “spring break for geeks”. Otherwise known as sxsw-interactive, the most overstimulating & overwhelming week of the year. (yay)

To provide a break from the chaos, The Beacon Lounge is returning for our 4th year as an oasis in the middle of the madness for the non profit community at sxsw and other cause-focused geekeratti. While the comfy seating, awesome vibe, great company and steady flow of food & drink (Thanks to our amazing partners) keeps everyone sane, we never want to forget what has brought us all together in the first place: The desire to create lasting social good in the world. While having massive (sleepless) amounts of fun, that is.

The Beacon exists for our dynamic community at sxsw, but also because of it. And so, our theme for 2012 was born: Play hard. Do good. From supporting local organizations through Lunch For a Cause everyday to giving away amazingly cool T-shirts by Mike Rohde with a donation to Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, giving back has always been the cornerstone of The Beacon. While you’re having a blast in Austin, we hope you can also help us make a real difference for real people.
