Meet Beaconfire’s new Online Campaigns and Marketing Director

We’re pleased to welcome Jon Thompson (not the basketball coach) as our new Director of Online Campaigns and Marketing. In addition to helping us expand our marketing service line, Jon is one of the senior members on our Feeding America team. Prior to joining Beaconfire, he was trying to save the world as the Director of Digital Campaigns for SEIU in Florida, where he fought to change the national dialogue in support of economic equality/fairness and in doing so pushed the boundaries of mobile organizing. Previously, he was the Web Advocacy Coordinator at CARE in Atlanta where he built their global grassroots political communications program. In his life before working for large nonprofits, Jon was building and directing digital communication teams and campaigns for various elected officials across the country.

Jon grew up at the foothills of the continental divide in Montana where he ski raced, kayaked and lived the life that is so often portrayed (poorly- thank you very much Brad Pitt) in Hollywood movies.

As Beaconfire continues to grow, we are looking for a couple more marketers who want to work with the Beaconfire team to serve great causes and accomplish amazing things online. If you are passionate about helping nonprofits, are ready to do cool things on the Internet, and think you have that “je ne sais quoi,” then we would like to talk with you!
