Heifer International enjoys an enviable reputation in the blogsphere -- bloggers routinely include the charity when posting their holiday shopping lists. So for the 2006 giving season, Heifer asked Beaconfire to help the charity move from passive to active marketing and fundraising in the blogsphere. Beaconfire created a variation on the “friends asking friends” model, tailored to bloggers and MySpacers. A donation “widget” was created for people to paste in their sites and Beaconfire developed a promotional plan to alert participants about the campaign. Enough money was raised to invest in “BlogRaising 2.0.”
