Free the Slaves

FreeTheSlaves.net Website Redesign (Blackbaud)

Free the Slaves liberates slaves around the world, helps them rebuild their lives and researches real world solutions to eradicate slavery forever. Through the website redesign project, the organization wanted to break free of their bland blog-styled site, create significant visual impact, use story to captivate visitors, develop a customized wrapper for their considerable video assets and inspire action.

Beaconfire turned their current branding elements into an eye catching, cause-appropriate online environment from which to fulfill their mission of ending slavery worldwide. Integrating video and other multimedia helped Free the Slaves provide greater context and depth to their message. In addition, Beaconfire translated worldwide slavery data into an engaging and educational flash piece that helps a user understand the organization’s cause.

As a result, Free the Slaves was able to achieve the look and feel they wanted without sacrificing the user’s experience or creating site slowdowns.

Since the redesign project, the Free the Slaves website has been recognized as a Webby Official Honoree, winner of the W3 Silver awards for Best Visual Appeal and Excellence in Activism and winner of the Web Marketing Association’s WebAward for Outstanding Website.

The project for Free the Slaves included:

  • Information Architecture
  • Creative Design
  • Interface Engineering
